Capitol Heights Volunteer Fire Department
UPDATED: October 1, 2014 - 1934 hours
On September 27, 2014 George Adams was inducted into the Founders' Circle at the Cranford-Graves Fire Service Building. Just weeks before, the Capitol Heights Volunteer Fire Department lost member Richard Ager, George's grandson, who was one of several Adam's family members involved with the department. Members of the department stood in for Richard, and along with grandson Al Adams, we celebrated the accomplishments of our first leader.
Richard joined the department in 1942 as a junior member. In August, the Capitol Heights Volunteer Fire Department made Richard an Honorary Lifetime Member, for his previous service to the department and for being a valuable resource for documenting our company's history.
On Thursday, September 18, 2014, Phil was awarded the Norris J. Beard Junior Firefighter of the Year for 2013 during the Prince George's County Volunteer Fire & Rescue Association's Annual Convention.
