CHVFD and CHVFDLA Mourn the Loss of Anna Smith

We are sad to report that on Thursday, August 7, 2008, Anna Smith, Lifetime Member of the Capitol Heights Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary passed away at the age of 92.

Like many in the Capitol Heights Volunteer Fire Department and Auxiliary, the department was a family affair. Her father, William Pierce, was a charter member of the department and Anna’s mother, Mrs. Annie Pierce, was a charter member of the Ladies Auxiliary.

Anna joined the Capitol Heights Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary in March 1971. During her many years of service, Anna held the offices of President, Vice President and Chaplain.

Anna was inducted into the Prince George’s County Fire and Rescue Association-Ladies Auxiliary Hall of Fame in 1996.

We offer our sincerest condolences to Anna’s family. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.
