CHVFD Saddened by the Loss of Past Chief/President Dave Breeden

Dave Breeden

Dave BreedenThe officers and members of the Capitol Heights Volunteer Fire Department are very sad to report that our friend Dave Breeden, Jr., Life Member, Past Fire Chief and President, passed away on July 6, 2020.

Dave’s service to the Capitol Heights Volunteer Fire Department was extensive and filled with dedication and commitment since he joined in 1957. Along with service on committees such as Purchasing, Auditing, LOSAP, etc., Dave served in several leadership positions. Dave served as:

• CHVFD Fire Chief – 1975, 1976, 1978 – 1989
• CHVFD President – 1990 – 1992, 1999, 2005
• PG Fire Commissioner – 1991 – 2001

Dave was also a distinguished military veteran, serving in the U.S. Air Force (ANG) from 1961 to 1980. He retired at the rank of Master Sergeant.

Dave is enshrined in both the PGCVFRA Hall of Fame, and the CHVFD Hall of Fame as well. He leaves an incredible legacy of firefighting, leadership contributions and achievements that helped our Company reach a heralded level of professionalism and accountability—and really make its mark. Current members Chaplain Dwayne Frost and Alonzo (J.R.) Howard credit Dave for being a positive influence about joining CHVFD.

Please join us in keeping the Breeden family in your thoughts and prayers.
