On September 29, 2007, Oscar Poore was included on the Founders Circle Memorial located at the Cranford-Graves Fire Service Building in Landover Hills, Maryland. Oscar’s name was inscribed on the Capitol Heights stone for being instrumental in the history of our station.

On Friday, September 21, 2007, PGCVFRA history was made. For the first time ever, the newly elected President of Prince George’s County Volunteer Fire and Rescue Association and the newly elected Prince George’s County Volunteer Fire and Rescue Association Ladies Auxiliary President were the from the same company.

On Thursday, September 20, 2007, during the Annual Convention, CHVFD Past President Al Laughery was inducted into the Prince George’s County Volunteer Fire and Rescue Association’s Hall of Fame.

CHVFD and CHVFDLA Mourns the Loss of Louise ‘Alice’ Long

It is with great sadness that we report the passing of Louise ‘Alice’ Long. Alice, at the age of 101 left us on July 30, 2007. Alice shared 70 years of service with the Capitol Heights Volunteer Fire Department and will be greatly missed by the both its members and auxiliary.

Engine 52 Responds to Commercial Building Fire in Fairmount Heights

On Tuesday, June 12, 2007, at approximately 6:00 pm, just prior to crews planning to leave the station for a training exercise at the Maryland Fire & Rescue Institute, Engine 52 and Chief 5 responded to a reported building fire at the Laundromat, located 5327 Sheriff Road in Fairmount Heights. It was reported that the building was struck by lightening during a storm that had just moved through the area.

Engine 51 Responds to Fatal 3-Alarm Apartment Fire

Just after midnight on May 30, 2007, units were dispatched for a reported building fire at 7109 Donnell Place in Forestville. Units arriving to the Holly Hill Condominiums found heavy fire conditions on rear of the building.

Capitol Heights Citizens Free Four from Burning Vehicle

On January 11, 2007, at approximately 12:00 am Prince George’s County Public Safety Communications dispatched an auto accident in the 500 block of Larchmont Avenue. Engine 52, Paramedic Ambulance 5, Rescue Squad 8, Medic 46, EMS 1 and Battalion Chief 1 were alerted to the call.
